The curriculum has three main divisions:

The ballet instruction includes age-appropriate lessons using classical and child appropriate music. These classes help children develop strong and flexible limbs, good balance, and body awareness. The children are introduced to the world of classical ballet using age-appropriate lessons. The class hopes to build self-confidence, self-esteem, and a love of movement. Some classes combine classical ballet with an introduction to tap, classical jazz, or modern. All recital dances will be ballet only for this age.
All classes are 45 minutes. Please click here for policies and requirements.

Classical ballet

The classic ballet technique taught is based on the Vaganova method of classical dance. Each class emphasizes feet and arm positions, correct terminology, strength, and stretching. They are educated on famous ballet such is Coppélia, Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty, and the Firebird. Students are also educated on the classical music, composers, and famous dancers associated with these ballets.
The opportunity to perform in Radomile's Annual Nutcracker Ballet is given to all students if they so choose.
They are encouraged to achieve a mastery of the skills taught in each class and level.

Pointe

Pointe work is an extension of classical ballet training. Students are ready for point based on their technical level and understanding of ballet, muscular strength, body structure, and emotional maturity. To achieve proper pre-pointe training, students must take two (2) or more ballet classes per week. It is suggested that students in level 4 and who wish to study pointe take two (2) ballet classes per week. Ballet students are required to attend two or more ballet technique classes per week to continue the study of pointe. Please read the article "To The Pointe".

Jazz, Hip-Hop, Tap, and Modern

These classes include technique, stretching, coordination exercises, and age-appropriate combinations. The teachers incorporate classic techniques as well as contemporary dance. Modern dance was born in America during the turn of the 20th century when a number of dancers and choreographers wished to move away from the two prevalent dance styles at the time, Ballet and Vaudeville. Louis fuller, Isadora Duncan, Ruth Saint Denis, and Ted Sean are considered to be the pioneers of modern dance in America and each have their own unique and distinct styles. Because of its freedom, creativity and focus on personal style, modern dance has evolved throughout the years and varies from instructor to instructor. The modern dance classes taught at Radomile are inspired by all the great founders of modern, but primarily explore more smooth and lyrical motions of Isadora Duncan and Ruth St. Thomas.
Our classes always start with a warm up that aims to strengthen and stretch the students before they begin the rest of class, which consists of both upbeat and slow-moving combinations.
